VR Fitness for Weight Loss: Choose a Workout You Enjoy

Find a VR movement style you enjoy as part of a weight-management routine. Compare games, choose comfortable settings and follow your progress.

October 22, 2026 By Five Mind Creations

Hey everyone! If you want VR to help you get more active as part of a weight-management routine, start with movement you enjoy. A song you want to play again is a much better starting point than somebody else’s calorie screenshot.

We make PowerBeatsVR for music-led workouts you can shape around your own songs and settings. Here are a few ways to choose a VR format and build a routine that fits you.

Find the movement that makes you want another song

GameWhat drives the movementWhat might appeal to you
PowerBeatsVRPunching, dodging and squattingGenerated workouts for your own music
Beat SaberSlicing to the rhythmTiming practice and authored maps
Synth RidersFlowing arm patternsDance-like rhythm movement
Audio TripChoreographed sequencesLearning a designed dance routine
Pistol WhipRhythm-led action and dodgingAction gameplay with active movement

These are different ways to play. Check current hardware support, comfort options and store terms, then choose the style you actually want to try.

What you can make your own in PowerBeatsVR

Start with an official workout, or generate a layout from a supported local audio file. Choose the difficulty and the movement mix, and put together a playlist for the time you have.

That freedom is handy when the soundtrack makes the difference between wanting to move and putting it off. You supply the song and settings; the app doesn’t automatically sense your fitness or decide how hard you should work.

Our base game has no required subscription. Optional music and environment add-ons are separate, and our music FAQ explains file support for each platform.

Give your routine a comfortable starting point

Pick an easy setting and a short session you can perform with controlled movement. Clear the full playspace, use controller straps and take breaks when you need them. Stop if you feel unwell; leave weights and resistance attachments out of fast controller movements.

Afterward, note what you played, active time and how it felt. A familiar playlist at similar settings gives you a useful way to notice changes in comfort and effort. Body measurements are optional; you can track an activity habit without posting photos or weighing yourself.

Put calorie numbers in context

The published PowerBeatsVR metabolic rating covers Advanced and Expert sessions tested in August 2019, using a 60 kg reference weight. It shows that those tested sessions involved substantial exertion; it isn’t a prediction of your calorie total or a ranking of every current game.

Difficulty, body size, movement and pauses affect a session, and wearable estimates add their own uncertainty. Weight change also depends on nutrition, health, recovery and other activity. No VR title guarantees a particular loss.

Keep the next step simple

Choose the movement style that appeals to you, check your setup and try a manageable session. You can build from there as it becomes comfortable. For us, giving you control over your music and movement is a big part of making that next session appealing.

Explore PowerBeatsVR on Quest or Steam. If you’d like to talk playlists and routines rather than calorie leaderboards, you’re welcome on Discord.

Happy moving,
