New to VR fitness? Welcome! Your first PowerBeatsVR session is a chance to learn the moves and enjoy a song, not chase an expert score. We’ll walk you through the space, setup and settings so you can start comfortably and build from there.
Make room before you put on the headset
PowerBeatsVR lists a minimum clear playspace of 2 × 1.5 metres. Check full arm reach and body movement as well: keep clear of walls, furniture and lamps, remove cables and trip hazards, and keep people and pets outside the area.
Use controller straps and follow your headset’s boundary and safety guidance. Passthrough can help you see the room, but you still need that clear movement space.
Check the version for your setup
Meta Quest standalone runs on supported Quest hardware without a gaming PC. PCVR needs a compatible computer and headset; PSVR2 has its own console requirements.
For PC, check the current Steam requirements alongside your headset’s requirements. Our FAQ covers setup, height and play-area options, while the in-game GUIDE explains the gameplay items.
Start with one familiar workout
Official songs and workouts are an easy way to begin. Pick a comfortable difficulty and a simple movement mix, then give yourself time to learn the timing.
- Warm up with gentle movement before play.
- Fit the headset securely and check that the view is clear.
- Learn controlled punches and how to respond to the dodge and squat cues.
- Take a break before fatigue makes your movement sloppy.
- Finish with one useful note about what felt good or confusing.
Keep punches controlled rather than snapping your elbows or swinging wildly for a score. Extra weights or resistance attachments aren’t part of this beginner setup.
There’s no session length you have to complete. Keep the first try brief enough to judge comfort and learn the basics, and stop if you feel unwell. Follow device restrictions and get suitable advice if a health concern or needed adaptation makes the choice uncertain.
Add variety when you’re ready
Once a familiar session feels comfortable, try a little more time, a different movement mix or a higher difficulty. Change one thing first so you can tell what made the workout feel different.

Scores and unlocks can be fun goals. Let them add to the enjoyment while you keep choosing a level you can perform comfortably and recover from.
Bring in a song you love
Our generator lets you use supported local music files and choose the workout settings. For your first import, start with a normal MP3 and follow the music and transfer instructions for your platform. Streaming-service offline downloads generally aren’t importable audio files.
You don’t need a room full of gym equipment to get started: compatible VR hardware and safe space are the essentials. Keep water outside the movement area, choose suitable clothing and have a towel handy if you want one.
If you’re still choosing your version, explore Quest or Steam. And if you have a beginner question, come say hello on Discord.
Enjoy your first session,
